If there is economic improvement in sight, Geneva’s not counting on it for the 2010-11 budget. Instead, city officials expect to receive 15 percent less in state income tax receipts and little increase, if any, in property and sales tax.

(Source: cbs5.com ) (Source: www.iht.com ) The state is bankrupt in February, regardless of whether or not a budget passes. ious will be issued in lieu of state tax refunds. Over the past week, I have met up with a LOT of conservative bloggers, activists, and RNC members about this. It took a while, but last night I sent a fax to every state senator and assemblyman. (I *heart* unlimited calling plans. ). I wrote to each of them that this was a mess they created and they must fix. No federal bailout money, no punishing the taxpayer. Stop paying into welfare funds for illegals, stop funneling money to unions. I know this is a pain – I know we’re all tired and upset – but we’ve got to do something, cause this is out of control. We’re about to be taxed for everything under the sun if the Dems can get away with it. This is, until the California division of the RNC forms under Micheal Steele, the best way to speak up. Some good contacts: If you want to contact the Legislature (includes committee members’ names, etc.): www.legislature.ca.gov and www.leginfo.ca.gov Some groups: California Tea Party: www.calteaparty.com California Republican Party: www.cagop.org Howard Jarvis Taxpayers’ Association: www.hjta.org California Alliance to Protect Private Property Rights: www.calpropertyrights.com

In a presentation on the proposed grade K-12 school budget on Monday night, board member Ken Stokes of the finance committee said the state aid loss translated to a $653 increase in taxes per average house assessment of $866,208. While the budget is actually $759,000 lower than the current budget, according to Stokes, it still requires more tax money from residents because of the loss of the aid.
